I was looking for information on exactly how many smoke alarms there should be in a house. I must be having a brunette moment because its as clear as mud to me. We have one smoke alarm and that is in the entrance way. My question is should there be more than one in a house. This is NSW.

thanks in advance my much smartererer counterparts.

They are irritating esp if they are located near the kitchen, the slightest hint of steam sets them off. Where ours is if there is an electrical fire at the other end of the house by the time the smoke gets to the alarm we will be dead.

We should be right if the bread catches on fire first,as it only goes off if we burn the toast.

Here in Vic it is recommended that one be placed close to the doorway of each bedroom of the house/flat. And Esme, once you put it in you should not take it out unless the battery is dead
