What is wrong with our damn legal system? At least once a week footballers are arrested for serious offences yet all they get is a slap on the wrist from their clubs. The bastards seem to think that they are above the law, BECAUSE THEY ARE! I for one am writing a stern letter to Justin Madden, our beloved Sports Minister and former footballer. I am totally pissed off and demand an explanation. If I had a sister or daughter and one of these mongrels assaulted her I would track the bastard down and shoot him like a dog in the street (don't get me wrong, I love dogs).
Grrrrrrrrrr.

I have to agree, though I think its on a whole these days. Living in the NT we have had some very violent crimes in the last couple of years, and all these people get is a slap on the wrist, whilst their victims either live in fear, or pack up and move. I think its time the legal system was actually used the way it should so these people suffer the consequences of their actions.

Well from where I'm standing (or sitting) it seems that since the cops are powerless there should be a gun in every household. Sweden has no army and it is the obligation of every citizen to own a gun and they have the lowest crime rate in the world. By law, for reasons I shall not go into, I am not allowed to posess a firearm, but I have one or two stashed away and if any bastard harrassed any member of my family they would quickly become unstashed. I am certainly no John Rambo and definetly not a vigilante but since my father died I have to look after my family and I'll do what ever it takes. That is why I am in dismal Victoria and not in sunny Qld. But on a lighter not knock knock........

I'm with you all the way. No one is above the law, no matter how famous or rich they are. If they break the law, then they should be made examples of and get the toughest penalties around. Hopefully that will deter their fans/groupies into breaking the law themselves.

Absolutely Josie7, I have been a naughty boy in the past and have no gripes about crime and punishment. But when celebs can get away with violent crimes, etc. what sort of example does that set for kids. I guess if one has enough money then you can get away with murder, e.g. OJ, or any crims down here in Victoria. It just ain't right and it totally pisses me off. Perhaps we should be asking who pays our magistrates? I have done time for the same shit that other people make money by talking about it in the media. Economically we may be a first world country, but judicially we would be third world. I am angry because our legal system is shot to pieces and don't even think about LegalAid, they are so underfunded that I had to pay for lunch with a lawyer. There is no light at the end of the tunnel because your average Joe or Jill Citizen has no dealings with the law. They are just happy in their lounge chairs watching Reese Witherspoon shoplifting and footballers put some unfortunate bugger in hospital or another rape. It has to stop, and I have sent a letter to the, dare I say, Honourable Mister Rudd voicing my concerns. But I presume that politcians are all ears prior to election time but once in office they are permanently out to lunch. Finally, I would like to say to Virginia that there is a Santa Claus, but not in my world.
